Deftones on Tour
Deftones have long had a reputation for being a commanding live act. Vocalist Chino Moreno is an active, energetic frontman who runs and jumps around the stage as he sings, when he's not shredding on his guitar. The rest of the band churn out heavy grooves indebted to post-hardcore and alternative metal as well as modern rock–leaning faves such as The Cure (a band Moreno loves).
During their career, Deftones have gone on numerous high-profile tours, including the 2010 Blackdiamondskye trek with Mastodon and Alice in Chains, and a 2018 South American tour with post-hardcore icons Quicksand. (The latter's Sergio Vega also plays bass for Deftones.) They've performed on Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, the Family Values Tour and Ozzfest, and appeared at major gatherings such as Lollapalooza, Pinkpop Festival, Roskilde Festival and the Soundwave Festival.
Deftones in Concert
Deftones' roots stem from the friendship of three friends: Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter and Abe Cunningham, all of whom grew up in Sacramento, California, as skateboarding and music fanatics. The trio started jamming together in the late '80s alongside other musicians, including the late bassist Chi Cheng. After honing their sound with live gigs, Deftones ended up signing a major record deal in 1994 with Madonna's Maverick Records and released their debut album, Adrenaline, the following year.
The group followed this up with 1997's Around the Fur, which cemented Deftones as a part of the burgeoning nu-metal movement. Then, starting with 2000's critically acclaimed White Pony, the band became known for boundary-stretching metal that drew on atmospheric textures and heavy riffs. White Pony spawned the alternative hit "Change (In the House of Flies)" and the song "Elite," the latter winning the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. Other notable songs followed, including "Minerva" (from 2003's self-titled album) and the title track of 2010's Diamond Eyes. Deftones continue to be a formidable touring and recording machine, and released Gore in 2016.

Always a good time. Wish everything was in Gallagher Square like previous years especially with the new renovations. Still had fun though! Deftones never disappoints.
PLEASE get a better lineup! Last few years the other bands have been painful !
The reason I gave this review may be because I didn't bought the most expensive tickets but when I was at the fourth annual Dia de los Deftones even the cheapest ticket gave you access to the field where the stage was and you can REALLY SEE at Chino and the band so close, but this time (may be because of TikTok) there was LOT of people this time so we had to sit outside the field and just the people who bought the expensive tickets were able to enter and see the band close enough, for everyone else we had to conform with see the screens and visuals of the stage because they didn't even displayed the band on the park big screens, and I was able to see Chino with my phone zoom camera but yeah, not worth in my opinion right now until people get engaged onto something else and they stop being trending
9th time seeing the Deftones and they never disappoint. The only complaint I have is that there should have been an earlier gate opening time or a gap in between acts to give you time to see visit the ofrenda. Otherwise, it was almost flawless.
I got floor tickets, and I got up front, by the barrier, and not only did I get to hold Chino’s hand, but I also got a guitar pick from Stephen!
One for the books! Best show I've been to in a very long time! Can't wait till next year!!??
Hi, First off the bands were awesome. Deftones and Idles were super cool. But compared to previous years this year was more a stadium concert than a "day of the dead festival"like before. We had no idea they changed the seating to assigned and if no wristband couldn't go on the grass. There were no decorations hardly for the theme or photo items like others years. At least not up in the stands. We had a great time, just enjoyed other years a lot more on how they organized the event around the actual theme. Seems others I talked to at the hotel etc felt the same.
What an epic experience, Deftones rocked it and sound even better in person!!
Great show and site. Great merch and sound. Overall a great night of bands.
Been to this event 4 times now. Each year has gotten been bigger and bigger. Inside the stadium everything is set up well and enjoy seeing the entire venue being used properly. My complain is with the entrance to the show. One entrance for vip and one entrance for the rest. Lines wrapped the entire stadium. Then the debacle of GA wristbands once inside. Need to have an entrance for GA, one for Seating, one for VIP. This is a baseball stadium that has games all the time. It seemed unorganized. Once inside everything was great!!!! Love San Diego, Love the venue and I love the DEFTONES!!!!
Perfection! They signed the same as always… amazing! Great energy, GREAT vocals, great guitar. Simply GREAT. Already bought our tix for the March (Los Angeles) tour!
Love the feeling of them in their element and the absolute vibe of the whole show! Great performance, beautiful dia de los muertos representation and so many beautiful costumes! Sorry to have missed my first DDLD last year but so glad to have made it this year! Absolutely planning for next year and however many follow as well as their tour in two of the closest cities to my hometown Louisville, Ky!
Show and setting was great (was the first one ive been to since the first in 2018), but wasn’t wild about the no re-entry once we were in the event. Im sure there’s a reason for it but ????
everything was organized & really beautiful ! only complaint i have is to have more than one line to enter the stadium. but overall, it was an amazing experience for me & can’t wait to go again next year ! ????
There was about a 20 minute delay and lot's of rain.
This show changed my life, amazing :) I hope to do this again next year
Only problem was venue parking/ finding the seats was kinda confusing but the show itself was 10/10
If there’s one band I’m paying this kind of money for, it’s Deftones! I’ve never been disappointed by any of their shows I’ve attended. One day they will retire, and I will be able to say I saw them every chance I got! NO REGRETS!
Have been going to rock shows since 1980. Even the bands that I have enjoyed in the past now put on a lousy show. Forget prices and ticket availability. It's not worth it.
