British hard rock pioneers Deep Purple hold the distinction of being named "the globe's loudest band" by the Guinness Book of World Records, with no signs of quieting down nearly half a century after their debut. Widely acknowledged as one of the hardest touring bands in rock and roll, Deep Purple continue to bring an impressive wall of sound to their live shows, powering through epic anthems like "Smoke on the Water" and "Black Night" with the same vigor and energy that carried them to superstardom in the early '70s. Riding high on the 2013 release of their 19th studio album Now What, the band will live up to their reputation with another high-octane tour in 2014.
Formed in the late '60s as a supergroup comprised of several notable British musicians, Deep Purple made their album debut in 1968 with Shades of Deep Purple. The album was a hit in the US thanks to a popular cover of Joe South's "Hush," resulting in a gig supporting Cream on their farewell tour. Follow-up album The Book of Taliesyn was equally well-received, but it wasn't until a lineup change in the early '70s that the band achieved significant breakthrough success, topping charts around the world with Fireball (1971) and Machine Head (1972). Machine Head would prove especially significant, going on to become the band's top-selling album and the vessel for hard rock classic "Smoke on the Water," one of the most widely taught and covered guitar songs in history. Over the course of 19 studio albums and more than 30 live albums, the band has remained an indomitable touring force, continuing to thrill fans with their electrifying performances on tour.

DEEP PURPLE IS THE GREATEST LIVE BAND. FINALLY CHECKED OFF MY BUCKET LIST. ALSO, LOVED THE VENUE. I WILL GO BACK TO ANOTHER SHOW.
Live for many years near Jiffy Lube Live. - finally attended a concert there - very nice venue - sad the land is being sold. Went for YES - which after all these years still perform very well. Wasn't in to Deep Purple so I left.
Not bad, Yes was fantastic. Deep purples guitar player was off time, buy still fun.
I heard an interview with Deep Purple on Eddie Trunk's radio show. The new music sounds great. I saw they only had 12 shows left on US tour. Scranton PA was my best bet. Found a ticket up front. Booked a flight and hotel. Uber to the show. Deep Purple were on point. The vocals, heavy bass and drums, ripping keyboard, and shredder guitar. Every song was great. Had an amazing time. Hopefully I can see them again.
First off, I had never attended a concert at Bethel Woods (original site of Woodstock). This was an extremely nice facility. Easy parking, very nice layout, plenty of food options and general nice concert vibe. I had never seen Deep Purple live before, but was very excited to see this 50th anniversary tour of Smoke on the Water. The band was in top performance mode. Playing songs from their entire career and especially the big ones like Space Trucking and Highway Star. Extremely tight rhythm section of Roger Glover and Ian Paice (as expected), but with Don Airey and Simon McBride rounding out the musicians, these guys brought together a thrilling musical experience. Ian Gillian really worked the crowd and delivered a night of musical memories.
We were very impressed with the great music of theirs they played from their first 40 years. The problem was they didn't play what we came to hear considering this was their last tour and likely our one and only chance to ever see them. They played a lot of newer mediocre songs from the last decade or so. We like hearing some new music, for sure, but with every new song, we knew there was an older one we loved and wouldn't be hearing live.
Deep Purple and Yes was an amazing night filled with fun music and some good food Live Nation and tick master make ticketing really simple as long as you get internet at event All in all an amazing concert Thanx
I thoroughly enjoyed bth Deep Purple and Yes First time seeing Purple, but a great show Have seen Yes now seven times, and also was a good performance The venue leaves much to be desired
Well I have always loved Deep Purple. I never got a chance to see them live until now. It started off ok second song Highway Star, great!! then they went on for an about an hour with some deep tracks and some off the new album. Very slow going. Finally the last twenty minuets we were given Black Night, Lazy, Space Truckin, Hush and Smoke on the Water. NOTHING off the Perfect Stranger album, big surprise to me, great album. But that was it. I was part of the Meet and Greet with out Gillian. That was very nice done very well and with taste Ian Pace , Rodger Glover, Don Airy and Simon McBride. Met every one shook hands, autographs and pictures. That was well worth it. The set list was a little weak in my opinion. I figure at this point they should be playing all the hits. They only drew 3000 out of a 13000 theater. Oh Well thats one off the bucket list.
