Colorado Rapids History
The Colorado Rapids are among the original 10 charter clubs of Major League Soccer, debuting in its inaugural season in 1996. It didn't take long for the Western Conference contenders to establish themselves as one of the premier teams in the league. They made it to the MLS Cup final in just their second season and earned eight playoff berths in their first 10 years of play.?
In 2010, the Rapids made their second trip to the MLS Cup Final and defeated FC Dallas in a dramatic, come-from-behind 2-1 victory for their first championship. Since then, the team has made several playoff runs and topped the Western Conference following the 2021 regular season.

Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park
The Colorado Rapids shared home turf with the Denver Broncos in their early years. In 2007, the team moved into a state-of-the-art facility to call their own: Dick's Sporting Goods Park, a 19,000-seat capacity stadium located in the suburb of Commerce City. As was the case at Mile High, the venue's exceedingly high altitude — 5,200 feet above sea level — has given the Rapids a considerable home-field advantage, with the club winning roughly two thirds of the games held in their own backyard.
The relocation coincided with a wholesale rebranding, with the team introducing their current mountain-themed logo and a change in uniform colors from black and blue to burgundy and sky blue, to match the other professional sports franchises owned by Kroenke Sports Enterprises, whose roster includes the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, and English Premier League soccer team Arsenal FC.
The Colorado Rapids’ 2024 regular season kicks off in February at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, when the Rapids face off against the Portland Timbers. Colorado hosts their home opener against Nashville SC on March 2. The Colorado Rapids play their final match of the regular season at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas against Western Conference opponents Austin FC. Here’s a list of key matches to keep an eye on:?

Such a fun night.Such a great way to spend time with my Grandson
We sat in the end stands with the Rapids drum-fans. A really fun time and great game, but I don’t get the goal celebration of choking fans in white, caustic smoke. I will try to avoid this section in any further games.
We came to Denver from NJ to see the Colorado Rapids play our NY Red Bulls. It was a fun experience.
Good experience and value with Rapid tix at DSG via Ticketmaster.
Took my son to see the Rapids, was able to get tickets in one of the suites. Absolute best experience ever for a game! The staff was awesome, greeting us at every point and making sure we felt welcome and making sure all of our questions were answered. The food was top notch, and the seats were incredible. We will definitely do that again next time we are in town for a game!
Starting with the positives - ride share lots and entry was very convenient. Everyone was friendly. There was a fireworks show after that was really awesome. Now the rest - We were visitors from out of town - paid a little extra for field side seating because they came with food vouchers. We had 8 people and the electronic food vouchers did NOT work for 6 of us. It was stressful for us and especially the concession workers. We had to visit guest services and it took almost 30 min to finally receive paper vouchers (not ideal). The workers didn’t really know how the paper vouchers worked either, so the stress continued. Our seating was considered “premium” but it was pretty basic. We sat “on the field” behind the video boards, but there was no table, ledge, or anything to make you think otherwise. Now I know why there were limited photos online. There were basically dingy folding chairs set up behind the electronic boxes. We set drinks and food on them, and they weren’t particularly clean electronics either (bird poop, etc) Workers were forced to open very loud creaky gates for us each time we left our seats and one of the gates right next to us “didn’t work”, whatever that means, so we had to always walk a little farther. There was no field entrance that we could find (we asked the worker right next to our seats, but it was their first day..and they decided to put this worker with premium seat holders..) so we had to walk all the way to the top every time. In the end, these are minor problems in the grand scheme, but they are the difference between a good and poor experience. We did not feel we got our moneys worth at this stadium, and we go to a lot of MLS matches. Overall, we won’t be visiting this stadium again.
The game was a great time and so was the fire works. Unfortunately when we got out there was almost zero traffic control. Usually I like going to the rapids games cause they’re not downtown. So this makes it easy to get in and out. However because this was Fourth of July. It was packed, and we literally sat trapped in the parking lot without moving for an hour. They were really unprepared for when there actually is a large crowd that goes to the game. Quite ridiculous.
We purchased field side seats which were to include concessions vouchers with each seat. Unfortunately we were never instructed on how to get these vouchers and there was no electronic voucher transferred with the tickets. We spent 45 minutes and two laps around the stadium to finally get it taken care of. We missed all of warmups during this process. We were finally written paper voucher in the amount of $40 total (instead of the $50 we should have received). Not sure where the breakdown occurred but that was super frustrating!
We really enjoyed our time at the rapids game. We had great seats and the game was fun to watch.
