The sophomore full-length from Clairo, Sling is an album with its own charmed atmosphere, graced with the easy warmth of a far lovelier era but wholly the outcome of her bright & restless mind. In creating the body of work, the 22-year-old co-produced alongside Jack Antonoff, recording at Allaire Studios in Upstate New York. As Clairo reveals, Sling’s lyrical element was largely informed by the adoption of her dog Joanie. “When I got Joanie, I started changing my routines & habits to healthier ones, to try to create an environment where she felt comfortable & happy, It made me realize I hadn’t been doing that for myself, & that I need to look at myself with the same respect that I’d give to someone I care about.” Several tracks feature background vocals from Lorde, “Blouse” offers a meditation on the degrading behavior of men in power. “I think a lot of people know that feeling of having to compromise a part of yourself in order to be heard, you finally get to where you’ve hoped to be for so long, & there’s just this guy looking down your shirt.” Her sophomore album, Sling provided countless moments of revelation for Clairo. While a number of guest musicians contributed to the album’s arrangements, most was handled by Clairo & Antonoff. The result is a perfect setting for Clairo’s songwriting, allowing abundant space for her nuanced exploration of mental health, unmet expectations, and the struggle to treat ourselves with gentleness and love
outstanding performer. I will go to clairo again for sure. her performances are one of a kind.
It was a great show her voice was amazing the only let down was the production for the opener I wish her mic wasn’t cutting off it would’ve been amazing to listen to all her songs
I was really looking forward to this show, mainly because I am a big fan of Alice Phoebe Lou. I didn’t know much about Clairo, but I’m always open to seeing new artists. Unfortunately there were continued sound problems throughout Alice’s set. She barely got to finish a song or two. The sound would just completely cut out in the middle of a song, and it would take a couple of minutes to get it working again. She handled it as gracefully as possible, because she is a pro and a lovely person. But there is really no excuse for a venue to have those kind of issues and not be able to quickly rectify them. Very disappointing.
IMHO, Clairo is a great singer, but I definitely see her lacking as a 'performer'. Her set wasn't really engaging (maybe it's because of the Chi-O couple barking behind us) and for most of it, she was standing and holding the mic (the poor thing). The venue was also outdoors, and I understand that this was beyond her control, but people kept fainting and needing medical attention because of heat exhaustion. If I were to see Clairo again, I'd prefer it indoors and with seats.
Cant even begin to express how wonderful this was. This was my first concert and it was an amazing experience. Loved her energy and stage presence so much. I hope I get to see her again <33
No words are enough to describe how talented and amazing Claire is and a wonderful performer she is live . Went to see her in NYC for her 2nd night at Websterhall and it was a phenomenal show performance, she interacted slightly with the crowd and got everyone laughing and dancing . Her band was amazing and the one lady whose name I forgot was killing it with the live instrumental playing . There’s just so much words to say but the gist of it all is Claire and her team are stupendous people who have dedicated their heart and mind towards not only the Charm album but those previous to it . I would definitely recommend seeing Clairo live and getting vip if it is in your budget .
I LOVE CLAIRO SO MUCH SHE DID SO WELL OPENING AND PREFORMING FOR BOYGENIUS.
It was cool to see her perform. Opening up for boygenius at Reset.
This was the best show i’ve ever been to! I had mixed feelings going into it due to how most of the Sling Tour went, however the crowd in Philly was awesome! Everyone was respectful and we had a great time. Clairo’s stage presence was awesome and the sound was great as well as the stage. My friend and I organized a fan project and it worked! It went so well and I was so happy. The staff and venue handled the extreme heat well with them going down the line with fillable water jug and passing out water before/between sets. Overall best concert i’ve been to!!
went to the manchester show in october 2022 it was so much fun she was awesome!!!! the band was amazing the crowd was fun, had an amazing time!
