CHINGO BLING IN CONCERT:
Chicano rapper Chingo Bling is a man with a message. The witty lyricist is an outspoken critic of the US immigration policy, and he has taken aim with provocative and humorous songs like "They Can't Deport Us All" and "Brown and Proud". Regardless of where fans fall on the political spectrum, they can all agree that Bling's live shows hit the mark. From his clever lyrical wordplay and fresh samples to his tongue-in-cheek vaquero style, Chingo Bling always delivers an entertaining concert experience on his can't-miss tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Houston-born Chingo Bling, a.k.a. Pedro Herrera III, grew up in the city before attending a private New Jersey high school on scholarship. After returning to Texas to attend Trinity University he came up with the Chingo Bling persona while DJing on the school's radio station. In 2001 he began selling mixtapes out of the trunk of his car, building a growing regional following with his humorous lyrics, outrageous personal style, and animated live shows. His 2004 debut album The Tamale Kingpin further fueled his popularity, but it was his 2007 album They Can't Deport Us All that really earned him breakthrough success.? That album peaked at No. 2 on the US Heatseekers Albums chart, generating significant buzz with its socially conscious subject matter and popular tracks like "Do the Lasso". A veteran performer known for his sharp lyrics and sense of humor, Chingo Bling continues to delight and amuse ticket buyers with his unique brand of Chicano rap on tour.
