Cat Power Tickets

This was a show I am glad I didn't miss! Cat Power was amazing, her voice was, as always, incredible. I would absolutely see her again, given the opportunity. What a lovely performer!!

I saw Cat Power at the Fillmore in San Francisco years ago and it was transcendent. Probably the most powerful concert I’ve ever attended. Over 50 now, she is stunning and brilliant as ever. And I loved seeing/hearing her at the Rialto. The sound was incredible. The stage was beautiful. The community feel was lovely. My only complaint is the seats. They are so uncomfortable and squished together that the large person sitting next to me spilled over into half of my seat, displacing me onto the metal bar of the two adjoining seats on the other side. It was a very physically uncomfortable night. That, in addition to people getting in and out of the cramped rows to go to the bathroom and fumbling with their drinks in the auditorium really detracted from my ability to “transcend.” That said, Cat Power is a genius, and it was inspiring to see her live. She’s one of few artists whose live performance really does surpass her recorded music in mystical ways. Her command of her voice and her ability to express so much nuance through it make her one of the most impressive vocalists I’ve ever had the privilege to see onstage. I’m grateful the Rialto was able to bring her to Tucson.

Words can't describe how great this concert was. Cat Power is an incredible artist and the Civic Theatre is a lovely venue. It was a magical night.

Cat Power at the Bijou Theater was the perfect combination; not a bad seat in the house and every note played was beautiful. The performance was a delightfully intimate interpretation of Dylan's '66 "Royal Albert Hall"show and Chan Marshall, her band, and the Bijou Theater (not to mention dinner beforehand, next door, at Bistro at the Bijou) made for a delectable evening.

I’m a longtime Cat Power fan, but this was my first time seeing her perform live and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was blown away from the moment she started singing. The paired down acoustical set (first half, just as Dylan performed it) was powerful, intimate, and emotional. Her voice really shined and the guitarist and harmonica player played perfectly with and to her. Her version of “Mr. Tambourine Man,” which is not a favorite Dylan song, brought me to tears. The electric second half was equally as good in a completely different way. It was energetic and fun—the band and Cat Power were so good. So happy I was able to see this show. I’ve seen hundreds and this was one of the best.

Cat Power's rendition of the entire 1966 Bob Dylan concert is a brilliant update of these songs — with reverent nods to the originals and a seamless infusion of Cat Power style. The Bijou Theatre in Knoxville was an excellent venue for this revue — the ensemble's sound perfectly filled the natural acoustics of the hall. Having the first half acoustic and then veering head-on into the electric portion was a great homage to Dylan's famous "gone electric"phenomenon. The band was excellent and Chan Marshall's voice was beautiful in her blues/jazzy take on these classics. So very cool all around.

The 1st hour of the show was so slow no energy at all. the 2nd half picked up when the whole band got on stage to play. Cat power herself was hard to hear and when she did interact with the crowed was very hard to understand and seemed like she did not even know the band she was with as had hard time with there names when introducing them. Over all the show was just low energy and did not feel any emotion to the endeavor.

Amazing! Cat Power Sings Dylan was such a phenomenal concert! Her voice was mesmerizing and the band sounded great! What a treat to see this legend in concert! If you haven't, please check out this artist and follow her!

Cat came onto the stage in relative darkness and played that way throughout the event. It would have been nice to see features and faces (the musicians were well lit) but that was not to be. Cat's presentation of songs was very different than expected...we could actually recognize only a few of the songs she sang because her cadence and tone was very different than the original...kind of conversational voice put to music rather than songs shared out loud. Would not say that it was not good (many of the other people there were shaking their heads and swaying their bodies...saying "awesome"and "brilliant"liberally throughout but it was not a concert that we would probably go to again.

Loved the music. Cat Powers sang Dylan masterfully; she really put her signature sound on it. She seemed to have a head cold, but powered through it, we really appreciate her being a pro. My only complaint is the lighting. The entire show was back-lit with no spot on her. So, we simply could not see her face and her expressions as she sang the lyrics.
