Great acoustic, lighting and unique venue. I had a great time in this theater. Bonobo show was fantastic ??????
The music was beautiful, the light show was beautiful. The music’s beauty was killed by fox theater Audio system. Piano guy didn’t even have to come cause the piano part was overwhelmed by bass
Bonobos performance was fine I’m sure, if I could see it. Unfortunately my view was obstructed by other patrons who decided to stand in the aisle right in front of our seats. Despite being asked to move by one usher they kept coming back. We tried asking another usher to move them and he did nothing. Eventually we asked them ourselves and they said there was no room anywhere else. The show was scheduled for a venue 3 times the size and got moved to this one so maybe that’s part of the problem. We couldn’t see so we left early. What a complete waste of money.
The venue changed from a nice outdoor amphitheater in Berkeley to a old gross theater in Oakland, which really ruined the entire experience. Left early and nearly got attacked by multiple homeless people navigating through Oakland trying to get home.
Bonobos music is colorfully layered with deep and textured analog bass sounds and layer upon layer of filtered synthesizers. I was really impressed to see that type of sound performed live with a five piece band and vocalist. Wow! The lights are really cool too.
If you’ve never seen Bonobo before you’re in for a treat. If you never seen Bonobo before with a live band, be prepared to be blown away. It’s dismissive to call Bonobo Electronic. There are so many layers to his music that expand most genres. He has a particular set of skills that will resonate with everyone. Epic show. One of those artists whose music typically plays in the background of my life and I appreciate the art he’s given us. Go see him and his band. They won’t be around forever.
This is the second time I’ve seen bonobo live. But this time he had the live band with him & honestly it was probably my top 3 shows I’ve ever seen in my life. Super intimate/small show and it was phenomenal. So glad it was local to me as well!
I had heard Bonobo’s music before but never seen him live nor a video of any performances. I was blown away by how lovely, musically nuanced, and visually stunning the show was. It was a very pleasant surprise that he toured with live musicians - drums, keys, guitar, a vocalist, horns, a musician on various woodwinds, and himself on bass. The lighting was beautiful - an art piece in itself - and the video visual that accompanied the music was mesmerizing and elevated his set list - suiting and enhancing the moods of his songs perfectly. I was moved and danced the entire time. Will definitely see him again!!!!
Bonobo is my life's soundtrack, day in & day out. One can only imagine the excitement in me to have the privelege to see them perform live! Their performance blew me away, exceeding my expectations! What a cool venue the Sylvee is too. My husband and I had balcony seats, so we had a perfect view of everyone on stage! We also were able to get up and dance, move about freely! I would see Bonobo again live the next opportunity that arises....so thrilled he brought the Fragments Tour to Madison, WI!!!!!!! I am grateful to have been a part of the show!
