Boise State Broncos Men’s Basketball History
The Boise State Broncos men’s basketball team joined the NCAA in 1968 and was admitted to the Big Sky Conference in 1970. The Broncos realigned with the Big West Conference in 1996 and the Western Athletic Conference in 2001 before shifting to the Mountain West Conference in 2011. In 2026, Boise State will begin competing in the Pac-12 Conference.?
Since their first outing in 1976, the Broncos have earned 10 total berths to the NCAA Tournament, including three consecutive appearances between 2022 and 2024. In addition, Boise State has won seven regular season conference titles and six conference tournament championships. In 2022, the Broncos claimed both accolades for the first time in the same season as a member of the Mountain West. Meanwhile, the team has appeared in seven National Invitational Tournaments (NIT) and two College Basketball Invitationals (CBI). The Broncos have been coached by Leon Rice since 2010.

Boise State Broncos at ExtraMile Arena
The Broncos host home games at ExtraMile Arena on the Boise State University campus in Boise, Idaho. Opened in 1982, the former BSU Pavilion hosted its first March Madness games within a year in 1983. In total, ExtraMile Arena has been the site of nine different editions of the NCAA Tournament between 1983 and 2018. The venue’s name became ExtraMile Arena after the convenience store chain signed a 15-year naming rights agreement in 2019. The 12,644-seat arena hosts the Boise State men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as the gymnastics team. The Broncos’ student section is known as The Corral.

by D. on 2/14/19Taco Bell Arena - BoiseBSU men’s basketball is good, mid-level college basketball. This year is an average year, but they are competitive, with lots of promise for next season. This particular game was against the woeful SJSU Spartans, who got within 13 late in the first half, but fell apart in the second half to lose by 48. Still fun, and a great college b-ball atmosphere. (A morning snowstorm probably scared a few people away, even though the roads were wet but fine.)
