With all the technology at our disposal replays on some questionable calls would be a good thing. Consistency upon entering the arena would be a good thing what we could walk into the arena on Saturday we could not enter on Sunday.
I really enjoyed the AVP League event in San Diego. I went to the Saturday night event. When I got inside, I was greeted by "my"team, the members of the San Diego Smash. Had a photographer take a photo of the 5 of us. Found a great seat in the third row, on the aisle. Enjoyed 4 great matches, the first 3 of which went to 3 sets. The Smash lost their 2 matches, but all of them were well played and close. The crowd was into it, the music was lively, and a good time was had by all. Note: To use the "promo code"to buy your tickets from TicketMaster, don't try to enter it where one usually does, where it says "Promo Code"! Instead, press the UNLOCK button on the earlier screen. Saved me $10.
Beach volleyball is overall and all the time a great experience, and they did a good job in the venue and the spaces and order for the entire day.
Saturday Primetime Play from the Grandstand was every minute entertaining under the lights. The play was intense, and the crowd interaction was nonstop. Sunday in the VIP section couldn’t have been better. Access to players and the action was closer than any major sporting event I’ve ever attended (ie PGA, NFL, NASCAR and NCAA). It’s the best run event of all of them. My only recommendation is that there be merchandise available and better marketing. Hoping for more AVP beach volleyball events on the East Coast.
Such a great experience! Holding it in such a big arena insured there were good seats, even in general admission. I opted for the Club tickets for Saturday and do wish there was assigned seating. Thankfully I had a friend to save my seat, otherwise, I'm sure I would have lost my seat every time I took the 10 minute trek to the bathroom that was very far from the Club area. Also, would have been nice if the food was out consistently. I arrived at 1, just after the 'lunch' food had been taken away and had to wait until 5 to eat and was starving and couldn't find any open concessions to even purchase food. Also, I pre-purchased the parking pass, followed the direction on the app, it read to show a valet the QR code, I drove to 4 separate entrances, no valet or person anywhere, so I ended up having to pay $28 for a full day's parking on top of the $20 I pre-paid. Other than those small issues, the event itself was amazing. The players were all so friendly, mingling with fans in between matches, the MC did an outstanding job, the intermission entertainment was hilarious. And not AVP related, however, this event was awesome because I ran into almost every single person I know in the AZ volleyball community, felt like a big family affair. :)
We were on the edge of our seats all day! Watching these athletes dive for balls and smash their spikes was so fun and exciting. And being inside was a blessing! I hope Phoenix hosts this again soon!
Getting to see the AVP in live action here in Phoenix was the best. Great venue. Great competition. Great fan experience.
We bought the VIP tickets and it was less than VIP. Tickets were oversold and there was not enough seating. For an event that is supposed to last almost 12 hours, you can't expect people to stand for the entire day. Also, if there were a schedule of events for Saturday's activities published, we would have planned to be there for a window of time that would have made it more enjoyable. The volleyball action was top notch and the product on the court was awesome. The organization and planning of the event lacked a lot of thought and could be done a lot better.
Would be great to have two courts going at the same time. Really love that you could leave and return the venue as much as you want it
Our family loves everything about volleyball. When we found out that AVP was having the Phoenix Championship, we knew that we had to go. As soon as we entered the arena, we knew it was going to be a great day. We loved seeing some of the top talent from the AVP mens/womens tour. The games were entertaining and competitive. Witnessing Casey Patterson's last tournament brought out so many emotions. We are huge fans of Taylor Sander and so to watch team SandCrab take the championship was the cherry on top. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We will definitely attend if they do another AVP event in Phoenix. Great venue, great atmosphere, and thoroughly enjoyable. Only thing that could have improved the experience was to have a couple more food options. Specifically a cheeseburger. Thank you for an amazing day!
