Ari is a must-see!
by DorkyDutchman on 4/21/24GLC Live at 20 Monroe - Grand RapidsHe performed with a good edgy set and I'm really glad I saw him from the front row. I can't wait to see him in West Michigan again.

Ari Shaffir is an American standup comedian. In addition to his numerous appearances on the Joe Rogan podcast, he is best known for his last special, "Jew," which has garnered almost 7 million views and was written up in The NY Times in its list of best specials of the year. You might also know Ari from the storytelling show he created and hosted on Comedy Central called "This Is Not Happening." Ari also has a Netflix special called "Double Negative" and a Comedy Central special called "Paid Regular." Ari Shaffir?has also appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, Are You Garbage, Your Mom's House, 2 Bears 1 Cave, This Past Weekend, Flagrant, TigerBelly, and many many more. These appearances have made him a favorite in the comedy podcast world. His new podcast, You Be Trippin is one of the biggest podcasts of the year and comes out every week wherever you watch or listen to podcasts. Ari is the reigning president of the Legion of Skanks podcast to which he has no affiliation. He placed first in the nonsteroid?category of the legendary Sober October challenge, which he also destroyed shortly thereafter so he could found Protect Our Parks with Shane Gillis and Mark Normand which he fooled Joe Rogan into hosting.
The deal is this is a dirty show. It's not completely offensive but absolutely are some parts are offensive. So don't bring that one friend in your friend group who makes that tsk noise a lot. Just tell them you're doing something else, or your grandmother died, or your grandmother killed somebody and you gotta be a character witness. Whatever. Just don't bring them. But everybody else can for sure come. Ari puts on a hilarious show every year of all new material and he brings amazing openers. So, it's just a really?funny night of legit mainstream standup and you're going to have a great time every time.

A lot of his sketch really bothered me. Comics can be funny without insulting people based on mental health, drug addiction, race, religion, gender, economic privilege and IQ. Many liked the show, just not anyone in my group of 6 friends.
My date and I had an absolute blast seeing Ryan, Colum, and Ari! Their under lying theme of pedo-jokes struck me like a great horror film; giving you a new perspective on your surroundings. The day after the show while wandering around downtown Detroit, there happened to be a gymnastics/spirit squad competition going on, and there were pockets of little girls dressed in spandex and too much make up. Colum would have been able to get a good litmus test on finding "the one."
First time seeing Ari and we were not disappointed! Both openers were great too. I liked that it was at the Charleston Music Hall and not a HUGE arena. We will definitely be buying tickets next time he comes around!
I’m not sure if it was just who we were around, but it seemed like the crowd hadn’t ever heard Ari’s comedy.. I felt like he and his opener toned it down (at least some based on my prior experiences) due to crowd responses and that sucks. We’ve been fans of Ari for a long time and I just hope he knows that not everyone in Iowa is uptight. Ari and his opener were great, the crowd got 0 stars from us and should definitely watch comedians before going to their shows and acting shocked when they hear dark humor. Please if you are offended by comedy, don’t go to these shows and ruin it for the rest of us who actually want to be there. We were bummed there wasn’t a meet and greet after.
I surprised my fiance with tickets as we are huge into the comedy scene and Ari DID NOT DISAPPOINT ???? The theater itself was pretty cool lots of history but when I say I was laughing the WHOLE show ???? I will definitely be seeing him again if he comes back!! Everyone around us also seemed to enjoy the show as well!!
Was a great show. He isnt afraid to cover sensitive topics in an insensitive way but still didnt feel malicious. Funny bc its inappropriate type stuff. We laughed constantly.
The show was great. It’s not for everyone, but I know what Ari’s comedy is like and I enjoyed the whole set.
the show was average, kind of rambled on in the middle of the show.
Ari Shaffir’s show was hilarious! Nothing is off limits in his show and is not for over sensitive people. But for those who take comedy as it should be, a way to escape from the world and just laugh, this show is perfect! I highly recommend catching one of his shows.
