About
A LOT LIKE BIRDS IN CONCERT:
Post-hardcore juggernaut A Lot Like Birds has been bludgeoning fans with breakneck tempos, decibel-shattering riffs, and razor-sharp technical chops ever since they first hit the scene in 2009. The aggressive six-piece takes virtuosity to new heights at their live shows, expertly navigating the complex tempo changes and sudden dynamic shifts of hard-hitting tunes like “Kuroi Ledge” and “Connector” while fans lose themselves in the mosh pit. Their sound may be savage, but underneath the hard-edged veneer is a world of melody, texture, and emotion that the band recreates perfectly at their frenetic, adrenaline-filled live shows.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
A Lot Like Birds formed in Sacramento, CA in 2009 when guitarist/vocalist Michael Franzino brought together a group of local musicians to collaborate on a recording. The result was the band’s debut album Plan B, a largely instrumental slice of post-hardcore tunes that garnered attention thanks to the experimental addition of classical instruments like horn and strings. In 2011 former Dance Gavin Dance frontman Kurt Travis joined A Lot Like Birds as their lead singer, and his vocals played a significant role on the band’s sophomore album Conversation Piece. That record drew them out for their first national tour, where they were joined by like-minded acts Just Like Vinyl and Dance Gavin Dance. Following the outing A Lot Like Birds hit the studio and released 2013’s No Place, a critically acclaimed effort that peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Since then they've been a tireless presence on the road, treating fans across the country to their hard-rocking, high-octane live shows.
