Over all this was so far from a Christmas Carol that i'm not sure that anyone should attend expecting this story line. It was simply a shell of a Christmas Carol filled with poor jokes, slap stick comedy, and political jabs. If you like the old classic the Three Stooges you may like this show. Perhaps a younger audience would be a better target as it is very much childish and painful humor. We stayed until intermission and then quickly headed for the door to salvage what little valuable baby sitter time we had left. I have no idea how this is been a running show for so long? But then again, the general public has a low IQ and poor taste.
The DPAC never disappoints as a venue and outstanding service. The show was marvelous and we were so happy to celebrate this Christmas by seeing Ira David Wood III perform one last time. This show is amazing and an incredible rich tradition for the Triangle area and beyond. Thank you for spreading joy and cheer every year. I know that IDW IV will keep the beautiful tradition going. God Bless You Everyone.
What A Gift This Group of Talented Actors Gave Us Here (in the Raleigh/Durham area), in This Amazing Production for Xmas Year After Year! We Feel So Honored to Witness the Very Last Show With Ira David Wood the Third & It Was So AMAZING! Such A Beautiful Part of Our Xmas Holiday This Year. Especially at DPAC!
We had been hearing about the Theatre in the Park production of A Christmas Carol for a few years and decided we needed to get out to see it this year, being David Ira Wood III's final year. What a disappointment. The humor was juvenile/lame, bits went on far too long, and the songs were slow, repetitive, and uninteresting. Made it to intermission and decided to cut our losses to save the rest of our Saturday.
We have seen this play provably 12 times, and love it. The humor is always fresh. The pay is a great reminder about the “reason for this season”. We were so fortunate to see Ira David Wood III in his final performance, after 50 years!
Best ever - I’ve seen it many times before. Ira David III brings laughter, joy and a few tears in his performance. Truly a holiday classic. Hard to believe it’s been 50 years and I see it being a tradition for many years to come. Great job David and all the cast! Merry Christmas!
This show was the second to last show that Ira David Wood III would ever perform and it was everything anyone who attended could ask for. The entire cast was great, but Ira David Wood III was exceptional. His musical-comedy version of A Christmas Carol was anything but boring. The fact that he brought in current events kept the show lively and the audience both laughing and crying. He will be missed next year, but I saw his son, Ira David Wood IV perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge last year (2022) and he didn't miss a beat. I look forward to see the show in 2024. I can't wait.
The show was funny, fun and engaging!! The scenes were beautiful and colorful!! The acting and singing were spot on! What a great way to spend an afternoon!!
We absolutely loved the show. This was our first time seeing this show, but not our last. A Christmas Carol will be a new Christmas tradition fire my family.
