Arizona Cardinals Team History
Founded in 1898 in Chicago as the Morgan Athletic Club, the Arizona Cardinals is the oldest professional football club in the NFL. The team joined the NFL as a charter team in 1920 and became the Chicago Cardinals in 1922. Some of the most iconic players in NFL history have worn the Cardinals uniform, including Pro Football Hall of Famers safety Larry Wilson, defensive back Dick "Night Train" Lane, cornerback Roger Wehrli, tackle Dan Dierdorf, cornerback Aeneas Williams, and quarterback Kurt Warner. State Farm Stadium has also given Arizona one of the NFL's most distinct home field advantages. Since beginning play at the venue in 2006, the Cardinals have earned three division titles, two NFC Championship Game appearances and their first-ever Super Bowl appearance.?
In 2014, the Cardinals finished the season 11-5, marking the most regular-season wins for the franchise since 1975. The following year, they set another record for number of wins in a season since moving to Arizona, winning 13 games. That same year, the team clinched their first NFC West title since 2009.
